Today is the day I would normally post Enlargement of the Horizon (Marius V, Les Misérables), in which Marius is not so very gently reminded that beauty and grandeur take a back seat to truth and justice - which often seem rather grimy and mundane and unpleasant. And I do still love that chapter, but I've decided that the timing is inappropriate. Why should Waterloo be celebrated as a triumph of truth and justice over empty glory? So I'll save it for some other, more deserving anniversary, and simply say: substance over style.
And here's hoping. That doesn't mean we can't have pretty layouts, of course. Just that there ought to be something to go into them.
